Immeasurable Benefits of Personalized Coaching

Coaching provides a much needed pause dedicated to personal and professional reflection.

Coaching is an incredibly empowering tool for contemplation, goal setting and greater self-awareness. Coaches strategically pull from a variety of instructional models, such as GROW, OSKAR and AOR, to formulate questions that lead to deeper clarity and direction. Accountability checks lead to increased efficiency and fulfillment which ultimately lead to more happiness!

How Does Coaching Work?

Coaching is very open and flexible; afterall, it is designed to meet individual needs. Clients choose the cadence and focus of the sessions. Some prefer quick 15-minute accountability check-ins, and others schedule full sessions to dive in more fully. Some meet with their coach twice weekly, whereas some meet every other month. One client of mine utilized coaching to manage the first few months of her pregnancy. She could no longer take ADHD meds, so we met twice a week to time block her schedule, minimize distractions in a remote workspace and keep her goals in check. Once she got into a solid rhythm, we returned to meeting monthly. Several of my clients benefited greatly from just one session. One determined the best wording to ask for a promotion. Another talked through schooling options for their child.

Clients also direct whether a session ends with “homework” or an action plan. Action plans may involve talking with a colleague or family member, cleaning one room weekly, meditating, time blocking, going to bed before midnight, reviewing a list of their strengths at the start of each day, taking a course or using more empowering language.

Consult and Intake:

Most coaching relationships begin with a complimentary consultation or “chemistry check”. Clients are invited to confidentially share their concerns, ask questions and explore ways in which coaching can be of support.

Logistics:

Coaching takes place in person or remotely, through phone or virtual platforms. At times, phone sessions are ideal, free of worry about looks or hyperactive dogs creating chaos in the background! The absence of reading body language can be very freeing; it allows focus to remain inward. At other times, clients prefer face-to-face interactions. In all sessions, clients have the option to share documents, such as Individual Development Plans, email drafts, goal lists and performance plans through Meets or Google Docs.

Results from Coaching - Client Feedback

I am always so grateful for my time with my clients, and their feedback continuously reminds me of the wonders of coaching:

“I didn't realize how much I needed this type of coaching and development. It far exceeded my expectations.”

“She provided a space for me to talk through my situation and offered some actionable tools.”

“After two sessions, I was able to bring examples for where I feel I lack in communicating effectively and I have walked away with tools and practices to implement. I already feel more confident in my communication and I can’t wait to see how much more progress I’ll be able to make.”

“Such an incredibly helpful, insightful and practical session. Really grateful for the manner in which she listens and synthesizes my comments made to date. So much moral support, boosting my confidence and acknowledging my expertise and vision. Very empowering and critical to my forward movement, post-session”.

“She helped me step forward in the right direction all while being so gracious and encouraging.”

“I feel empowered to make some changes!”

“She's great at helping me focus on upcoming discussions with my managers.”

“She is so open to listening to my background, the professional challenges that I face and she asks sharp questions that help me reflect who I am. I connected right away with her and am grateful for her coaching.”

“She does an amazing job continuing previous conversations week over week. It is extremely helpful when tracking progress and discussing strategies.”

“I really enjoyed my session and look forward to the next. It’s great to have this support and accountability in a neutral party.”

“Super helpful and helped me connect dots that I missed but seem very obvious in hindsight.”

“I love that we were just able to talk and she helped put some things in perspective.”

Why Coaching?

There are many excellent reasons to hire a coach. Here are just a few:

  • Intentionality: Setting an intention is the first step to success.

  • Clarity: In a world full of distractions, coaching provides the space to think and plan.

  • Relationships: Greater self care and self-awareness, including boundary setting, provide more time and energy to commit to relationships of choice.

  • Thought Patterns: Cognitive Thinking Distortions get in the way of happiness! Identifying thinking patterns and making small changes can lead to new, wonderful opportunities.

  • Organization and Time Management: Phones! Social Media! Binge Watching! Collaboration Apps! Deliveries! Most of us could use more strategies to stay focused and productive.

  • Self-Care: Coaching is a self-care tool. Coaches support clients in cultivating emotional, intellectual, physical, spiritual and professional wellness. All of which lead to greater self-reliance, increased fulfillment and joy!

Self development supported by coaching is transformative. One change, such as the commitment to take more risks, can lead to increased opportunities, unleashed creativity, interactions with new people, intellectual stimulation and greater self esteem. A conversation with a mentor can result in greater insight, improved communication and relationships, and inspiration for a new career path. Coaching helps clients prioritize goals, let go of what is not useful, and create roadmaps to get where they want to be. The benefits are, indeed, immeasurable.
